Hawaii Cruise

If you prefer to be pampered and waited on, eat great meals every single night, party into the night, or you want to visit each one of the main Hawaii Islands, then a Hawaii cruise is for you!

One of the most difficult parts of planning your Hawaii vacation is deciding which island to visit. Instead of trying to decide, just book a cruise and enjoy some time at each island.

The great thing about a Hawaii cruise is that you can experience each one of the main islands, but you never have to pack up to go to the next island. The traveling is done during the night so each morning, you will wake up at a new island!

If you don't like cruising for more than a day or so at a time, you'll want to find a cruise with an inter-island itinerary... basically, you start the cruise in Hawaii and end the cruise in Hawaii.

On one Hawaii cruise we took, we started in Hawaii and ended in Ensenada, Mexico. The cruise was awesome, but traveling on a cruise ship from Hawaii to Mexico takes 4 days... yes, 4 straight days at sea with no land in sight!

I am sure that many people enjoyed it, but we would have rather been spending time on the Hawaii islands.

The reason for disembarking in Mexico is because of an old U.S. law that requires foreign-registered vessels to visit a foreign country or a distant port if it is allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at a U.S. port. It's definitely a weird law, so if you don't want to have 4 straight days at sea, pick a cruise line that can embark and disembark in Hawaii.

How long do you want your Hawaii cruise to last?

The length of a Hawaii cruise basically depends on where you want to embark and disembark from. The typical cruise lengths are 7 nights, 10 nights, or 14-15 nights.

The 7 night Hawaii cruise embarks in Hawaii and disembarks in Hawaii. Although these cruises are cheaper, remember that you'll need to purchase airfare to and from Hawaii.

The 10 night cruise usually embarks from the mainland U.S. and disembarks in Hawaii, or vice-versa. This is probably the most popular Hawaii cruise to take.

The 14 or 15 night cruise both embarks and disembarks from mainland U.S. It's longer and more expensive, but you won't have to pony up the cash to buy a ticket to or from Hawaii, which will certainly save you money.
