Oahu

If you are a surfer, Oahu is the place to be on your vacation! In particular, we're talkin' the North Shore. The north shore of this Hawaii Island has great beaches and the best surfing waves that you will find anywhere in the world.

Oahu is home to the capitol of Hawaii -- Honolulu. Honolulu is a big city, and there is no mistaking it when you see it. Big tall buildings everywhere... when you're in Honolulu, you know it. The city has some of the finest luxury hotels, a ton of mouth-watering restaurants, and many places to shop. And if you are a night time party animal, this is the city to be in!

Oahu has more cultural and historical sites than any of the other islands in Hawaii.

Besides the North Shore, the one other attraction that Oahu is famous for is the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. The harbor itself was a big attraction, but in 1999, a memorial was build over the ship.

1,177 men lost their lives on that ship when it was bombed and sunk. It is basically a gigantic gravesite.

Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial are not attractions that you should miss. It is worth seeing. I was really taken back when I saw it for the first time in real life (not in a picture). I walked through the white structure and over the ship. I stopped half way across the memorial to watch oil still bubbling up to the surface of the water -- and it's been leaking this oil since it was sunk in 1941.

The feeling you get while looking at the sunkin ship is simply undescribable. Go see it.

Oahu's Polynesian Culture...

The Oahu Polynesian Culture Center is the number one paid attraction in Hawaii. During the tour, you'll learn a lot about the royalty of hawaii and it's culture. All while enjoying an incredible luau - and a luau is another one of those things that you cannot pass up on your Hawaii vacation. They also have a pretty cool show at night... it is easy to see why it's the number one paid attraction.

And, of course, of on the most famous beaches in the word... Waikiki beach! The beach is about 2 miles long and actually is made up of 9 other smaller beaches.

If you are not a fan of crowded beaches, you aren't going to want to spend a whole lot of your Hawaii vacation on Waikiki beach... but on the other hand, it is a fun beach to hang out at if you don't mind the crowds.

Other attractions you may want to try to visit on Oahu include Diamond Head, the Honolulu Zoo, and the Waikiki Aquarium.

Like we've said, there are just too many things to do and see on Oahu, it is impossible to talk about everything here. One thing is for sure... you won't be board on the island.

Many people fly into Oahu from the mainland U.S. or other countries and then go to their island of choice from their. If you've only planned a day on Oahu, we recommend going to the USS Arizona Memorial over anything else. If you have more than a day, also go to The Polynesion Culture Center.

Both are worth your time, money, and effort. Trust us... you'll be glad you did!
